Spring/Summer Day Out Outfit

The weather has been unseasonably hot lately. It feels like it’s summer but it’s not even officially spring yet. I remember last year this time there was still snow on the ground! Talk about global warming eh. I am definitely not complaining about the weather, I just wish I was more prepared for this since I packed away all my summer clothes and brought them home to Winnipeg during reading week. I guess it’s time to shop for shorts and skirts and dresses!

Anyhow, this gorgeous weather inspired me to put together a outfit that I think would be perfect for this weather, it’s simple, cute, and yet the lace and flower hairpiece add some femininity to it. I used it with pink shorts but to be honest, any pastel colored shorts would look great with this outfit! I hope you like it!

Searching for… a New iPhone Case

Need to get my 4th iPhone case.

I got my first one when I got my phone, paid a good $30 on it and it broke after 2 weeks (I dropped it numerous times). It’s just a plain black case.

I got my second and third from ebay because I refuse to pay so much for the case again. I paid approximately $5 for a pair of cases (meant for couples). I used both since my boyfriend still has a old school dumbphone. I dropped them numerous times but both of them were still intact. I retired my 2nd one because I went to a concert and got them to sign on it, since it was the only thing thats sign-able apart from my skin (just kidding). I am planning on retiring my 3rd one since the paint on it is fading, poor panda is going to be nose-less soon. I had absolutely not expectation on their quality but boy was I surprised. I dropped them at least 5 times a week and they are still sturdy! (And you can see why I NEED a case for my phone, I have total respect for people who has an iPhone without case and somehow manage not to break/scratch it!)

So here I am. Looking for a new iPhone case. I stumbled across the site called Society6 when I was browsing pinterest.  It’s a site where artists submit their work and it can be made into iPhone cases, iPod/iPhone skins, laptop/iPad skins, art prints, stretched canvases, stationery cards, hoodies, and t-shirts. There are so so so many designs on there and I can spend literally hours just browsing through all of them! There are cute animal ones, hilarious ones, super artsy ones, ones with quotes, etc etc. Here are 9 iPhone cases that I really like but I need opinion on which one is better! All their iPhone cases at $35USD, and shipping to US is $5, to Canada is $10. I believe the shipping is flat rate since when I change the number of items in the cart the shipping remains unchanged.

St Patrick’s Day Haul

Happy St Patrick’s Day everyone! Instead of going out and drinking/partying today, I decided to visit my boyfriend and went shopping (much better than getting drunk)!

My Mini MAC Lipstick Collection and Swatches

I’ve wanted to do this post for the longest time but the weather has never been good which results in not having good lighting. (The light fixtures in my apartment do NOT permit any decent pictures of swatches whatsoever. At least I will be moving soon!)

I do not own that many MAC lipsticks (only a few actually), but I am quite ready to expand this collection, since there are so many pretty shades and I love their formulations! MAC has a number of different lipstick formulae, including Lustre, Amplified, Amplified Creme, Matte, Cremesheen, Frost, Glaze, Satin. I only own lipsticks in Lustre, Amplified, Cremesheen and Matte, so I can only talk about these four finishes, but hopefully I will get some in other formulations later and will be able to review/swatch them!

From left to right: Crosswires, Craving, Plumful, Lovelorn, Force of Love, Russian Red

In terms of staying power, matte is definitely the champ, and for obvious reasons. It clings to your lips like no tomorrow, the down side is that it’s rather drying. I usually wear lipbalm right under it so it’s a little better, and also makes the lines less obvious. With the other three formula, I think Amplified is the next best, cremesheen, and then lustre. I feel like it also has to do with the pigmentation. Matte and amplified have some serious pigmentation, opaque in one swipe, cremesheen is okay, with lustre being the most sheer out of these (but definitely not the most sheer out of all the formula).

In regards to what’s the best “feeling” one, I feel like they are all pretty similar except matte (since it is drying). Amplified feels more heavy than cremesheen, and lustre is the most lightweight out of these.

All in all, my personal favourite formulation out of these is between cremesheen and amplified, since they are the happy median, but there are days when I prefer the other ones, like matte when I go to a party so I don’t have to worry about retouching throughout the night.

Anyhow, now onto the collection! This is a rather picture heavy post since I have both swatches on my arm and lip swatches! Continue reading

Spotted: Floral Pants

When browsing fashion blogs lately, I noticed many of them have recent posts with a common piece: floral pants. Spring is finally here and what’s a better way to welcome Spring than wearing something floral print? Floral dresses, shirts have all already been done, so why not floral pants? Pairing them with a simple top, sandals/flats/heels, and sunglasses and you have a perfectly assembled outfit!
