Yes… I had a huge shopping spree (to me anyways) yesterday, and my excuses this time are: 1. 15% off at Sephora; 2: I worked in the lab from 10AM-9PM the day before; I won a Lush gift card from the wonderful Magdalena; 4: $10 off YSL Touche Eclat at The Bay ends soon.
So with all the reasonings above, I headed for Toronto for a weekend of shopping!
First I went to Lush, with the hope to get the Mask of Magnaminty, but they were all out of the smaller size, so I decided to get that another time. I did pick up Angels on Bare Skin (a facial cleanser), and a solid shampoo. The sales associate recommended Squeaky Green so I am going to give that a try, since I have absolutely no experience with Lush hair care. I was weary about how long the shampoo will last since it’s a pretty small piece, but apparently it lasted the sales associate 6-8 months… Although I still have doubts about that, I guess I will have to see for that myself!
Then I headed to MAC, I never liked the sales associates in MAC in Eaton’s Centre, everytime I went there, they act like they are too good to talk to you. I went to pick up another Cremesheen Glass but I also wanted to try the Pro Longwear Lipglass since there was a colour I really liked. Oh boy it was the most most most sticky lipgloss I have ever tried in my life, even after I wiped it off my lips, my lips still feel sticky, so that’s a no-go. I ended up picking up a Cremesheen Glass in Deelight (mid-tone neutral) as per recommendation from Karen (at makeupandbeautyblog). It’s such a natural colour, a change from my beloved Double Dare, but I can see how this will become an essential in my make up routine!
I headed to The Bay to pick up the YSL Touche Eclat since they have a $10 off coupon! I have wanted to try it for the longest time but could not justify the price tag, so this coupon gave me an excuse! Touche Eclat is such a holy grail item for so many people, so I really hope I will love it too! It’s a highlighter but everyone says it’s absolutely great as an undereye concealer, which is something I needed desperately! I got matched with the shade 2.5 (Luminous Vanilla, for light to medium complexion with warm undertone).
And now to the store that basically sucks money out of my bank account – Sephora. I am still upset I didn’t get to go to the VIB event on March 28th to get all the freebies! But hey, what can I do? Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is the only thing I actually needed, but the only shade they are out of is mine (Bisque). I checked another Sephora later and they said they have been out of this shade for at least 3 months and there might be some manufacturing problem with the shade. Erm, what?! So not impressed with that. Anyways, so then I went around Sephora and picked up a few other things, I have read amazing review about Ole Henriksen skin care products, so I picked up the “3 little wonders” kit, which contains the Truth Serum Collagen Booster, Sheer Transformation, and Invigorating Night Gel. Since I am obsessed with lipsticks, I just had to pick one up since I was in Sephora. I ended up getting Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense in 32. It’s a gorgeous satin soft pink. So excited to wear this! I also picked up a duo pack of Evian Facial Spray. I have meant to get this for the longest time but never remember, and it caught my eye this time when I was heading to the check out.
Lastly I went to Shoppers Drug Mart just to kill time, but I’m glad I did since they had the whole Yes To… line on sale! I picked up the Yes To Cucumbers Natural Glove Facial Towelettes. It will be so useful for me since I travel between cities quite often and it’s a pain to bring make up remover and cleanser and all those. Now I only need to bring this pack of 3-in-1 wipes!
From top middle, clockwise
YSL L’Homme Libre Eau de Toilette
Ole Henriksen Trueh Creme Advanced Hydration x2
Bumble and Bumble Grooming Creme x2
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free in Nude (since Bisque is all out, I am trying this to see if I can use this shade instead!)
Make Up For Ever HD Blush #6 (Quickie)
Ole Henriksen Total Truth Eye Cream
Skyn Oxygen Infusion Night Cream x2
Did you take advantage of the 15% off at Sephora? I’d love to hear what you bought!

Today I’ve decided to do another quick review for a product I got from my haul last Friday. This time it will be the newest addition to my slowly growing collection of MAC lipstick – Fanfare. Just like the cremesheen glass, I am totally in love with this lipstick! I don’t know how it took so long for me to notice this beauty!
It is the perfect pink for everyday wear. It’s pigmented without being “in-you-face”. MAC describes it as a midtone-yellow-pink, which I think is a pretty accurate description. The formulation is cremesheen, which is one of my favourite lipstick formula from MAC. It’s very pigmented, with pretty good lasting power, has a sheen to it and is creamy (which I guess is summarized in the name LOL)! I usually wear lip balm under my lipsticks, but with the cremesheen formula, I don’t find that to be a need.
I am so in love with this lipstick I feel like this will be my go to lipstick for at least the next little while! I love wearing it under the Double Dare Cremesheen Glass!
What’s your go-to everyday lipstick? I would love to hear from you!

Yes. Another haul. And I would like to call it a “rage haul” since I went shopping because I needed to de-stress. Too much has been happening lately and it is probably the most stressful I have ever been in my life. But it’s the weekend so I am going to forget about it and deal with it when Monday comes! So here are some of the things I got!
I went to Shoppers Drug Mart to get the Revlon lip butters since they are on sale. I grabbed two more since I really liked the formulation of the two that I got last time. I got Berry Smoothie and Tutti Frutti this time. I can’t get over how pretty the packaging is! I will be posting a swatch/review on these lip butters I got in the near future! I also spotted the Essence display and grabbed a blush for $3.99! What a steal! Now I just need to see how’s the quality… I’ve heard mixed reviews about Essence products but hopefully this will be good!
Then I went to MAC and tried on some lipsticks… yes I am a lipstick fanatic if you haven’t noticed yet I tried on a few (hot gossip, brave, fanfare, viva glam V, and captive). I ended up picking up Fanfare because I think it is the best for everyday wear out of those I tried. Plus it’s a cremesheen… which is one of my favourite MAC lipstick formulation. I also finally caved and got my first MAC lipgloss. I opted for the cremesheen glass since I didn’t want any glitter in it, and the sales associate recommended the cremesheen (I don’t really know anything about MAC lipglasses). I tried on Partial to Pink (light creamy yellow pink with light gold pearl), but it was too neutral for me. I then tried on Double Dare, I can safely say that I am in love with that colour! According to MAC’s site, it’s a coral red. It was not really sticky when I tried it in store, so I am very excited to try it out for a longer period of time! I have been shying away from lip glosses because I hate how they are sticky and my hair always get stuck on them. So we will see how this one goes!
Next I went to Forever 21, it just opened in this mall near my place, so I am super excited! And it’s 2 floors! I picked up a feather patterned dress, a pair of jean shorts (for $12!), and a bat sleeve top. I’m not entirely sure about the dress but I will see! That’s why I love return policies! LOL!
The last place I went to was Aerie, they have 30% off everything in store! I ended up getting a pair of gym shorts (so not exciting), and another bikini! Sounds like it’s gym time for me!
So that concludes my haul! I hope you enjoyed reading it! Did you go on a haul recently? What did you get? Let me know! Or if you blogged about it, linked me! I’d love to read about it!
Have an amazing weekend everyone!

I’ve wanted to do this post for the longest time but the weather has never been good which results in not having good lighting. (The light fixtures in my apartment do NOT permit any decent pictures of swatches whatsoever. At least I will be moving soon!)
I do not own that many MAC lipsticks (only a few actually), but I am quite ready to expand this collection, since there are so many pretty shades and I love their formulations! MAC has a number of different lipstick formulae, including Lustre, Amplified, Amplified Creme, Matte, Cremesheen, Frost, Glaze, Satin. I only own lipsticks in Lustre, Amplified, Cremesheen and Matte, so I can only talk about these four finishes, but hopefully I will get some in other formulations later and will be able to review/swatch them!
In terms of staying power, matte is definitely the champ, and for obvious reasons. It clings to your lips like no tomorrow, the down side is that it’s rather drying. I usually wear lipbalm right under it so it’s a little better, and also makes the lines less obvious. With the other three formula, I think Amplified is the next best, cremesheen, and then lustre. I feel like it also has to do with the pigmentation. Matte and amplified have some serious pigmentation, opaque in one swipe, cremesheen is okay, with lustre being the most sheer out of these (but definitely not the most sheer out of all the formula).
In regards to what’s the best “feeling” one, I feel like they are all pretty similar except matte (since it is drying). Amplified feels more heavy than cremesheen, and lustre is the most lightweight out of these.
All in all, my personal favourite formulation out of these is between cremesheen and amplified, since they are the happy median, but there are days when I prefer the other ones, like matte when I go to a party so I don’t have to worry about retouching throughout the night.
Anyhow, now onto the collection! This is a rather picture heavy post since I have both swatches on my arm and lip swatches! « Read the rest of this entry »
