A little while ago Well.ca was having a sale on some CoverGirl products, so I took advantage of that and got a few things from the website. This is my first time placing an order from them so I decided to post a review about them also.
First let’s get on with the haul, all the CoverGirl products I got were 50% off, including the Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in the shades Black Diamond, Constant Candy, and Perfect Penny (Right to Left). I originally got 3 of the CoverGirl Jumbo Gloss Balm, in the shades Rose Twist (top), Blush Twist (bottom), and Ruby Twist, which unfortunately was not packed with my package. Instead, they packed the Rimmel Stay Glossy Lipgloss in the shade All Night Long (more on this matter in a bit). I also picked up the CoverGirl Clump Crusher Mascara in Very Black because I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about it. To bring my total up to enough for free shipping, I picked up the Tresemme Nourishing Rituals Rejuvenating Mud Masque, since I have been quite into hair masks lately, in hopes to salvage my damaged hair.
When I found out they packed the wrong item, I was NOT happy, especially because I was super excited to try Ruby Twist. So I gave them a call, and first, I didn’t have to wait in line, and the customer service was really nice and helpful. After I explained what happened, she told me she would refund me for the Jumbo Gloss Balm that I didn’t get, and told me to keep the Rimmel lipgloss. I also got my refund within 10 minutes of hanging up, which I think is amazingly fast. Apart from this little fiasco, the whole shopping experience on their site was very smooth, and items shipped the next day, and I got them within 2 days. Overall I am very satisfied with my experience with Well.ca and I will definitely
As promised before, here’s a quick review and swatch of the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in the shade Honey. I have been intrigued by the JBKBS ever since it was released, but the range of colour never really impressed me. Don’t get me wrong, there are some gorgeous shades, but there aren’t too many that would suit my skin tone and is okay for day-to-day wear. Honey is the closest thing to that.
Honey is a muted pink with a hint of mauve. It’s a perfect everyday colour. It has pretty good pigmentation, and applied very smoothly. It did not accentuate any dry patches or lines on my lips, but it left my lips super dry. Sad day. It was to the point where the skin on my lips started peeling off chunks by chunks – gross I know. The gloss was gone pretty fast, around 1-2 hours, but my lips were stained for another 2-3 hours, so the wear time is pretty good.
Bottom line: Loved the colour, super sad that it dried my lips like no tomorrow. I think I am a bigger fan of the Covergirl Jumbo Gloss Balm!
Have you tried both Revlon and Covergirl’s jumbo lip balms? Which one do you prefer?
Hi all! Sorry for the lack of posting lately. I’ve finally found some time to get back to this blogging business, and boy I didn’t even realize how much I missed it!
Anyhow, today I bring to you a quick review and swatch of the Covergirl Jumbo Gloss Balm in the shade Coral Twist (235). It is a gorgeous coral color that is just bright enough for some added colours to the lips, but not too bright for everyday wear. I think this is going to be my go-to lip product for spring and summer this year because the colour is so pretty and versatile. It applied smoothly, without any drag, but I didn’t think it was that moisturizing. Mind you, this did not dry my lips out, but it is advertised as a balm so I expected a but more hydration from this. Wear-time wise, it maxed out at around 3 hours for me, which is not really surprising given that this is supposed to be a “balm”.
I am a little late on this jumbo-lip-pencil/gloss/balm-bandwagon, since Ikind of dropped out of the beauty circle for a while. But with all these different companies coming out of this type of products, I am excited to try more! As a matter of fact, I (finally) grabbed myself a Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm (in Honey), so expect a review + swatch of that in the next little while!
Have you tried this type of lip product? What is your favourite?
I realize it’s been a long time since I made a new post, and my apologies! School and life have been super busy lately so I didn’t really have the time to blog, but I am going to try to get a blogpost in here and there (no promises though since exam is creeping up real soon). It definitely feels good to be blogging again though! Anyways onto the meat of the post… Continue reading
So this “haul” consist of things I got for free at the mall today! 2 of them are from Sephora, whereas the other one is from the Bay.
Okay. So I have 2 more days in Hong Kong, and I am NOT planning on doing more hauls. (We will see how that goes). Here’s my one last MAC haul in Hong Kong, and probably my last haul for a long time, since I will be embarking my Project x Pan journey when I get back to Canada. I also wanted to talk about my first time getting my eyebrows fixed, and my very first “make up class”, all at MAC! Continue reading
Yeap. Another MAC haul. I went all out yesterday, after finding out that most basically everything from MAC is cheaper in HK than in Canada (taking tax into consideration). I swear this is the last haul I’m doing in Hong Kong, and I will be starting a project 20 pan when I get back to Canada! (I apologize for the quality of the pictures, but the lighting at the place I’m staying at isn’t the most idea for picture taking. I will be posting reviews on these when I get home, along with better pictures!) Continue reading
I think I have frequented Mannings so much that I should become a VIP there. I went there twice in the past couple days and picked up a few things (again). Continue reading
The weather is still humid and hot like yesterday, and I am bracing myself for weather like this for the rest of my time in HK, which I hope isn’t true lol! I headed back to Mannings today just because I can (gotta love how convenient it is to get everywhere in HK!), and also did a quick stop-by at a chain department store called Log-On. Continue reading
So uhhhhh I did not expect myself to be spending this much money before I even leave the country… but hey it’s duty free! I’m actually sitting at the airport waiting to board (almost the end of my 7 hour layover at Vancouver airport!), so I decided to do a quick post before my long flight! Continue reading
How is it June already?! Time passes way, way, way too fast! It means I’m going to be going on my trip in a couple weeks! So exciting, yet I”m dreading the whole planning and packing process… which I will leave till last minute sadly. I don’t think I’ve ever done a post on monthly favourites, so I figure I should start it now! Continue reading
Oopsies another haul… and a rather big one. I only meant to buy one thing today… and end up with way more! I am running out of my usual make up remover (Lancome Bi-Facil), so I planned on trying out MAC’s cleanse off oil, since people have been raving about it. The girl at MAC recommended Cleanse off oil Tranquil, the only difference is that it also contains lavender and camomille, which helps calm the skin and reduce redness, it costs the same as the regular cleanse off oil ($12CAD for 30ml). I also got sucked into buying a lipglass (i have no idea how), I have never tried the regular MAC lipglass, and it is pushing my limit in terms of stickiness, but the color is so gorgeous that I caved. I ended up getting it in the shade Lychee Luxe. It’s a coral-pink with golden shimmer. Perfect for summer time! Continue reading
Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Papaya is a gorgeous coral, with fine gold shimmer. This line of lipgloss is described as “Lips that shine with killer colour. This weightless gloss makes lips pop with 5X more shine than patent leather.”
I don’t know if it lives up to the claim of 5x more shine than patent leather (those things are pretty darn shiny already!), but it does give the lips a gorgeous shine. Papaya looks very coral in the tube, but when worn on my lips, it looks more pink than in the tube, possibly because my natural lip colour is bringing out the pink in the shade. The gold shimmer is really subtle, so if you are weary of having a sparkle-fest on your lips (like me), it actually looks more like a creme finish, unless you really stare at it and look for the shimmer. When I saw the colour I immediately thought of MAC ‘s Star Quality, but Papaya is much more coral in comparison, and with shimmer (Star Quality is a creme finish). The formula is non-sticky, which is a great surprise. It takes a couple runs to get even colours, but it glides on the lips easily, without much pooling in the lines. It wore for close to 4 hours on its own. It does not feel drying at all, but after 4 hours, I find the skin on my lips peeling (maybe it’s just me?), which is weird since my lips feel really moisturized the whole time. Continue reading
Another haul post… this is what happens when I go to the mall two days in a row. Well I do have an explanation this time, London drugs (a drugstore that’s only in certain provinces in Canada) has a couple for $10 off any $25 purchase of makeup… how can I pass on that? Continue reading
