Dinner @ Auberge du Petit Prince

Last week boyfriend and I went for a nice dinner to celebrate our anniversary (kind of.. 4.5 counts right? lol!) I have been to Auberge du Petit Prince with my roommate before during Londonlicious (similar to winterlicious/summerlicious in Toronto, but in London). And I really liked it so I decided to bring boyfriend there since it’s probably my favourite restaurant in town.
The restaurant itself is a two story house, it’s really cozy, with a big room for events. The first time I went there, there was a wedding reception, and this time there’s some corporate event, and then a birthday party. It was on a Thursday night also, I am so glad we made a reservation!
We started with Escargot Fondue, which has garlic and white wine escargot, mushroom and cheddar fondue, crostini. It was very delicious. I wish we had more crostini though… since we still had some left over fondue. We ended up just using our bread for that haha.
Condiments that came with the bread: Olives, butter, and some tomato basil sauce thingy
Then I got the Rack of Lamb (Grainy dijon crust, fingerling potato, pomegranate molasses reduction). The lamb was cooked perfectly, the dijon was a little more spicy than I expected, it almost tasted like wasabi, but I surprisingly liked it! (I am not a fan of wasabi at all!) Boyfriend ordered the Steak and Frites, the fries were so so good. The steak was okay, it was not bad by any means, it’s just that we have had better steak.
And no meal is complete without dessert (although boyfriend seemed to disagree with that). I couldn’t decide which dessert to get… so I went for the dessert sampler (which they called “for the love of dessert”). I did not know what dessert they are going to bring out since it’s a surprise. We had the Baileys Cheesecake, Creme Brulee, and Black Forest Mousse Cake. The baileys cheesecake was a little too heavy (I think I was just getting full), but it was really tasty none-the-less. The black forest mousse cake tasted like heaven. It was so chocolate-y yet so light! Yummy! I have had their creme brulee before, so I wasn’t surprised at how good it was. The only thing is… I can make creme brulee at home easily!
At least they agree with me.
From top, clockwise: Bailey’s Cheesecake, Creme Brulee, Black Forest Mousse Cake.
All in all, it was a fantastic meal, the food was excellent in general, service was good, and the ambiance was pretty nice. It remains to be my favourite restaurant in town! If you are ever in London (the one in Ontario that is), I highly recommend Auberge du Petit Prince!

THAT DESSERT SAMPLER LOOKS AMAZING.
I love creme brulee.
How is escargot like? I never tried it, and don’t think I ever will. I can’t get past eating snails.
Haha the desserts were deliciousss! Have you tried homemade creme brulee? they are actually pretty easy to make eh?
Escargot is amazing! I absolutely love it! I just don’t think of them as snails… but as escargot.. LOL I know they are the same thing but I’m just tricking my mine haha. I am a pretty adventurous eater tho… I’ve had some pretty crazy stuff… XD You should definitely try escargot!
Yes! I actually made my own creme brulee awhile ago,but I didn’t have a torch so it was just the custard part I made. Still pretty good though! XD I was never sure if it was fully cooked though…let me parents taste test haha XD
Loooll..maybe when I’m older and there’s nothing else to eat..how does it taste like?!
OMNOMNOM
There was escargot on the menu at The Keg, but I’m too wussy to try it again. The only time I had it was at a French restaurant during Summerlicious… Just the thought of eating snails kind of makes me feel very icky though. So I wouldn’t go out of my way to choose it again. I’m a big food wuss
